Watching CSI Miami can be a torturous experience for anyone who gets irritated by Icon of Idiocy David Caruso like the following blogger:

..... but now I love to hate CSI Miami. First almost every main character on the show is ridiculously good looking and apparently extremely talented.
The one obvious exception is David Caruso, who clearly does not belong in Miami, I can’t even imagine the makeup and lighting needed to have him on this show. He sticks out like a sore thumb.
Not just visually, he is a total one note actor, and his note strikes discord with the other characters, even the extras. He’s like this serious brooding guy with a pseudo bad attitude, and he just comes off as retarded. I actually don’t like the scenes he’s in, everyone else is fine.
Best Week Ever once made fun of him for this, and I didn’t realize how right they were......

Icon of Idiocy David Caruso's/CSI Miami's continuous steep decline into unwatchable comedy territory is best described in the follwing most memorable comment:

.....But when you're talking about something like "CSI: Miami," craft advancement obviously isn't the point, getting paid is.
"CSI: Miami" is one of the forensics trilogies, surely the prettiest, with South Beach in hot pinks and bright greens and Disney-colored water, and female forensics employees in brief skirts and breezy tops appearing to have just come out of a cake at a coach's convention, not the morgue.

"CSI: Miami" is surely the goofiest of not only the crime scene contingent, but of all forensics shows ever made, or ever rejected, and one of the nuttiest cop-type shows of all-time history.

It's the Keystone Kops without bumping into lamp posts, without the pratfalls, but w with the funny logic.
The star of "CSI: Miami" is the gutsy David Caruso, who drives a Hummer to the mass murders and the horse race fixes; never can tell when the meat-wagon van will be full and you might have to toss a few corpses onto the leather seats. He's gutsy because surely he hears things about this show.

Didn't this Caruso guy used to be, well, if not good, better?

Here, he is in charge of solving the unsolvable as he tries without success to establish his sunglasses as a dramatic prop similar to the great Rod Steiger's gum in "In the Heat of the Night."....

A few quarters short of the dollar loon sara - self-proclaimed "stalker-hunter" (haha!) - once again made a complete fool of herself. Ouch!

What else is new, you might ask. True. The poor mite has been making an ass of herself the moment she set up her fun-page.

However, loon saras rant about Odysseus is a new high in stupidity. After reading (and laughing about) her last post we asked ourselves do people in Texas go to school at all and what kind of education do they receive?

Saras deficient education is well documented in brainfarts like the following:

"For those whose required reading never included Homer's Odyssey, a google search will provide as little or as much background you will need.Written around 8 B.C., the Odyssey is a mythological adventure whose protagonist is Odysseus...."

WTF? Mythological adventure? Maybe in Texas, but for the rest of the world who is obviously better educated it is an epic poem. Big difference, sweet cheeks!

Steven Bochco. Why we mention this highly influental/sucessful persona of the TV-world here? Simple. Steven Bochco was the one who - back in 1994 - kicked Icon of Idiocy David Caruso's ass ROYALLY. Nobody likes a selfish prick like Caruso. Not back then. Not now. Legions of Caruso-detractors all over the world think Bochco deserves a medal!
Lets take a closer look at the many achievements of the prolific writer/ producer:

Steven Bochco was born in New York City into a Jewish family. He went to work for Universal Pictures as a writer and then story editor on Ironside, Columbo, McMillan and Wife and the short-lived Griff, Delvecchio and The Invisible Man. He wrote the screenplay for the 1968 TV movie The Counterfeit Killer and worked on Silent Running (1972) and Double Indemnity (1973). He left Universal in 1978 to go to MTM Enterprises where he had greater scope for producing. His first effort there was the short-lived CBS police drama Paris, notable as the first show on which James Earl Jones played a lead role.
He achieved major success for NBC with the police drama Hill Street Blues. It ran from 1981 to 1987 and Bochco was credited as co-creator and also wrote and produced.

Bochco moved to 20th Century Fox (which ironically now owns the MTM library) where he co-created and produced L.A. Law (1986-1994) which aired on NBC. This series was also widely acclaimed and a regular award winner, but also achieved far higher ratings success than Hill Street Blues had enjoyed.
In 1987, Bochco co-created the half-hour dramedy Hooperman which starred John Ritter but was cancelled after two seasons, despite Bochco offering to take over direct day-to-day control of a third season. Hooperman was part of a lucrative deal with ABC in 1987 to create and produce ten new TV series, which prompted Bochco to form 'Steven Bochco Productions'. In 1992, Bochco had created an animated television series, Capitol Critters, along with Nat Mauldin and Michael Wagner.
After a lull, Bochco co-created the long-running NYPD Blue (1993-2005) with David Milch. Initially controversial at the time, the show was created with the express intention of changing the nature of network one-hour drama to compete with the more adult fare broadcast on cable networks.

In 2005, Bochco took charge of Commander in Chief (2005-2006) which was the creation of Rod Lurie and brought in a new writing team.

A very intelligent blogger - tired of dumb nitwit dojo's rants and her constant drolling over fugly Icon of Idiocy David Caruso - made an effort to get through the haze of dojo's apparent madness. Sadly, to no avail.

I don't know if there is a worse actor out there. He cannot look the camera straight on, he is always at an angle. His lines, whilst they are supplied to him, are delivered poorly and it always seems as though he is talking down to you.
There is only one good thing about him and this show and that is the drinking game where you take a shot every time he takes off his sunglasses. You are usually sh*t-faced before the first commercial.

Seldomly have we come across such a felicitous assessment of Icon of Idiocy David Caruso like the following. What makes this comment so interesting is the fact that it was posted on the CBS CSI Miami Forum of all places. Way to go people!:

......Caruso is a putz, always has been, paid 25000 dollars to vote himself into an Emmy award (the only award of this caliber he has ever received in his 37 year career), holds a gun like a moron.

My wife introduced me to CSI and I got involved in it, at least until I saw CSI Miami. IMHO, this show does nothing but demean the others. If a guy ever shot his pistol the way Caruso holds it, he would be looking at extensive plastic surgery.

I could almost stomach the show as Caruso (being the star) isnt in any relevant scenes and is only posing for a couple minutes. The scenes with his pistol in hand tho tell me the guy pretty much runs his own character as he wants without regard to what professional consultants would show him. Caruso plainly and simply looks like a child with a capgun. Even with the shortest basic pistol training, this is the FIRST thing they teach you NOT to do.
His one liners, sunglasses trick, gripping his belt like hes some kind of god, monotone voice crack me up! As an executive producer its easy to see how he himself created this character. He apparently shrugs off any professional critique from anyone who knows anything. I cant believe how naive some people can be to think this boob is a real actor.

Only a teenager or old lonely woman could like the guy. I'm ashamed of your taste in men too! This guy ISNT a good looker at all. Think about it, you would call a guy on the street his age a dirty old man.

I gotta say just about ANYONE who could remember some one liners could fill his role without changing the show 1 iota! Carrot Top would easily fit the part. On a scale of 1 to ten, ten being a Morgan Freeman or Al Pacino and 1 being Jerry Seinfeld, Caruso would be looking at the bottom of Seinfelds shoes
Top rated actor? He wouldn't make a good sized pimple on Petersons ass! This show is no more than a satire on the other CSIs. It should be listed as a comedy..(Dr.Tibbs)...

.....Horatio is an Idiot and he’s played by an Idiot, David Caruso, so he is believable. The stories are awful . They don’t make any sense at all. David Caruso is the worst actor in the world. Every episode has too much David Caruso trying to read his lines.
Emily Procter is a very good actress and she is very pretty. I watched this show because I like CSI, but this show is infested with horrible acting.I really wish somebody/anybody would get rid of Horatio. This show would be much better if David Caruso was not on it....

People have been wondering WHAT the reason behind the obvious rift between Icon of Idiocy David Caruso/Emily Procter which exists since 18 months or more could be.
Their alibi-scenes together (each doesn't last more than 30-seconds /1 minute) won't fool the seasoned viewer. Many of our readers think it is Caruso's unbearable prima-donna antics that set off lovely Emily Procter.
A fellow blogger has yet a different - but nonetheless very interesting theory - as to WHY those two just don't get along anymore:

....Surprisingly, Procter, 40, is one year older than Kathleen Morris (Cold Case) I would never have guessed that. All I can say is hooray for aerobics. That aside, Procter is the key to success of this particular CSI franchise, much more so than the over-the-top acting of David Caruso. Weren't his 15 minutes of fame up about 15 years ago?
Procter's Calleigh Duquesne-character is a brilliant part of the forensics investigations and will often dominate each scene she appears.. Think Sgt. Joe Friday — with a heart....

Now we all know how much Icon of Idiocy David Caruso hates it when somebody outacts/outshines him. There you have it.....

....Stabbing myself in the eyes may be the only way to erase the burning images of David Caruso's terrible acting... I HAVE to keep watching this show because the brother in law purchased it for me for Christmas. I might just ebay them away... I still have a problem with the fact that Kim Delaney, Khandi Alexander and Rory Cochrane have left the show (three of my faves) and the guy who makes William Shatner look like Olivier is still mugging it up. He just absolutely nauseates me...

While CSI is briniging in bigger and bigger numbers with every episode, CSI Miami slowly loses its " bite" and its "drive". Every episode is worse then the one before. The acting is lifeless and bland.
Who is to blame?
The writers? Icon of Idiocy David Caruso? The showmakers? All three together? A fellow blogger offers an explanation:

...CSI Miami is a horrid show. Caruso's poses drive me nuts.
It's hard to know if Cane's many irritating idiosyncrasies are the product of David Caruso's influence, or the influence of the writers and directors of the show. It's probably a combination of the two (though the rumors of Caruso's troubles on NYPD Blue may be some indication).
To me, the writing is simply absurd. I think Caruso is a ham but the writing is insane. It was always the dialogue and Caruso's delivery that bugged me, causing me to shudder and change the channel,.
I tend to think that on NYPD Blue Caruso was being elevated by good writing, but I don't actually remember his performances well enough to say much about it ...

The following comment describes CSI Miami and Icon of Idiocy David Caruso very fittingly. It is representative for the way people think. People who had to sit through one episode of this abysmally bad show:

......CSI: Miami (See-Ess-Eye-My-Am-E) : I absolutely hate this show. Worst show I've ever seen on televison. I could see better acting from a pair of house slippers in the shape of Homer Simpson's head.
Every sinlge crime show that is out now is exactly the same. From the good-cop bad-cop routine, to the scooby doo who-done it simplicity of the plot lines and murder cases, they are all pretty much epic fails.
But CSI: Miami is the worst of the worst. And the worser of the worst on this pittiful excuse for a show is "Mr. Edgy and Cool" himself David Caruso. All this guy does is wear sunglasses over his sunglasses and state the obvious in the "coolest husky cop" voice ever. Jim Carey called him the "scene buttoner". Fact is this man and his show suck so much....

Not necessarily everyone thinks that Icon of Idiocy David Caruso was great in his 1994-role as John Kelly on NYPD Blue. Which doesn't surprise us in the least. The following opinion is a very good example at how most people see the uncharismatic and bland one-note actor:

People watch CSI Miami and Icon of Idiocy David Caruso for very different reasons. Hardly anyone watches because they think it is a good show or David Caruso actually has talent:

...CSI: Miami is a gigantic boatload of moldy cock.

David Caruso is the star and acts really weird. I watch it just to see what his next line is going to be. I watch to see if he ever strings together more than one sentence. Can you imagine how easy it must be to only have one line per scene? Does he even have to memorize his lines?

James Bond says something situationaly appropriate about every dispatched bad guy in every movie. Maybe that's what Caruso has his eye on - the next Bond?

However, when Bond delivers a line, you don't want to puke into a bag. Caruso's acting is so far over the top, he's a caricature.

...So I am watching CSI: Miami and the main character, Horatio, is ridiculous. I used to love David Caruso back in the NYPD Blue days, and expected to like him at least in CSI Miami.
But holy crap, I think he put on the worst acting performance I've ever seen in my entire life. Maybe the script was just awful, but his delivery was so pathetic that I broke out laughing several times.
I don't know if the character is written this way, or if David Caruso is taking it a bit too far, but he is like stupid serious. Its like watching some old dick tracy type movie where the investigator is required to have five minute long stretches of silence between words. No one else on this show does this. Caruso is a prepossessed overacting dandy....

The following very detailed comment by a fellow blogger who obviously is little impressed with Icon of Idiocy David Caruso caught our interst:

.... David Caruso - Does anyone think he's good? This is one instance where I really think I could do better. Watching him act is like watching a faucet that you thought was dripping water, until you realize that there is not a water pipe attached to it.
David Caruso is the only guy working in Hollywood today who has totally mastered the incredibly difficult "stop, slouch, turn head to the left, remove sunglasses and respond in a low, hissing tone" field of method acting. If a role calls for that, he is going to get the nod 100% of the time.

I feel sorry for the guy. He must have a terrible pillow. I recommend a Tempur Pedic.

On Thursday the CSI franchise will lose its strongest lead.

That is painfully clear to everyone who has watched TV or surfed the Internet over the last few days. Heartfelt tributes to a great actor from colleagues, the media and friends appear daily.

We are sure Thursday's CSI LV episode will live up to the media hype that's taken over every facet of the industry by CBS, et al, over the past week. Every episode William Peterson stared in was memorable and superbly acted.

On the other hand , would Icon of Idiocy David Caruso quit CSI Miami tomorrow NOBODY would be sad. Left alone, care to promote it the way it has been done in William Petersens case.

Au contraire, many would be glad to see the obnoxious uncharismatic male diva go. We are sure, they even would throw a party clebrating the fact that the biggest control freak of the CSI franchise - Icon of Idiocy David Caruso - finally has left the TV screen...

Not many people like Icon of Idiocy David Caruso. Even the most liberal amongst the liberal start to fret and fume when confronted with the image of the fugly uncharismatic redhead:

I just cannot stand that guy, the way he poses for the camera, standing sideways, tilting his head, looking in the distant heavens, imaging himself on the moon maybe. Then, the way he pauses before the cheesy delivery of a cheesy line, and/or takes his sunglasses off while doing so.....
Is there a petition we can sign asking the CSI production to show him the door???
He might not get it at first, until he reads it on the cue card, then he'll look at the door, put his shades on, tilt his head, stand sideways, and then say "Mr. producer, I think I have to go". Cheesy line?

Sad times are to dawn for TV-viewers and for fans of CSI. Very soon William Petersen will resign from playing charismatic Gil Grissom . The franchise will lose its strongest lead. While CSI-fans only have good things to say about William Petersen, the tone becomes entirely different when Icon of Idiocy David Caruso's name is being brought up:

......I don't compare Petersen to Caruso - Caruso is just a joke - Petersen is an actor and was before CSI, he's been in many movies and theatre. This is NOTHING like what "Sunglasses" did; Caruso's leaving NYPD blue was all about money and ego and almost killed his career. William Peterson is no David Caruso. I can not believe people even put them in the same sentence. The first difference is I can actually watch William Petersen and CSI. As much as I love camp I have finally stopped watching CSI Miami.
William Petersen is in that rare class of actor who I would watch read the phone book, the same can not be said for David Caruso .

I like both CSI Las Vegas and New York, because they are both technical, mysteries, thillers, and unlike CSI Miami, it is not about one charcter.(i.e.- Davey Boy "Caruso") They have a good mixed cast, and there is none of this drama queen BS that I associate with CSI Miami. And he doesn't stand with his body facing off camera to the left, and staring at the camera, like Caruso. And he has dialoge longer than the 3 or 4 words Caruso usually says.
David Caruso is a self-absorbed egomaniac, who thought he was great enough for movie stardom, like Tommy Lee Jones, Harrison Ford and others, but the fool wasn't even close, as history has shown.....

WE COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER.
